Full Moon Ritual in 5 Easy Steps

The Full Moon in Aquarius on August 18, is also a partial Lunar Eclipse~ the first in a series of eclipses that is sure to shift the trajectory of our lives. This eclipse is a bit special as it is being referred to as an "almost" eclipse. Almost because the shadow of the Earth barely grazes the moon. As with any eclipse, something from the past is being brought back into awareness so it can be dealt with and then let go. Keep in mind that things are often revealed with a full moon...information is received. Sometimes that means being faced with the darker side of truth. As with all Full Moons, RELEASE is the key here. Release all that no longer serves you so that we may move forward with less~ less negativity, less limited belief, less judgement, less attachment and less fear.

This full moon comes with some really great energy to work with, so I put together a basic full moon ritual that we can all do.

I always do this ritual at night and usually outside especially if I am going to light candles and burn stuff! :)Full moon energy is strongest 3 days before and after the full moon so do this within those days for maximum effect.

1.EPSON SALT BATH: Epson salt baths are a great way to start as symbolically we are releasing and cleansing ourselves of what no longer serves us.

2. MAKE A LIST: The full moon is a time of release and purging and getting rid of the shit that weighs us down. So the most important part of this ritual is to make a list (it can be as long or short as you want) of all of the things that we need to get rid of for ourselves, in our personal space, and all areas of our lives. For example, “ I wish to release my negative feelings about what or whoever” or “I wish to release the need to be so controlling.”This is also a great time to let go of bad habits and things that we have been wanting to change. Really take your time with this…There is something VERY powerful about putting our words and desires on paper and then transmuting that energy.

3. SUPPLIES NEEDED: Candles, incense, matches and a heat safe dish or bowl. (You need to be able to collect the ashes from the paper that you will burn.) I light a few white candles to set the intention for the ritual and I do a quick clearing of the space with either sage or incense. You can read your entire list that you have written (either aloud or quietly)and if you want, you can say a little prayer or ask the universe for support during your ritual.

4. REFLECT AND RELEASE: After I read my list I always sit for a moment and really reflect on the positive changes that I wish to create. This step is really important as intention is everything. With that, I burn the paper and when only the ashes remain, I take the ashes and spread in a small area in the yard as a sign to the universe of releasing what is no longer needed.

5. WRAPPING UP: I always feel as if I have made room for better things to come in after a release ritual. You should almost feel a bit lighter. I usually end with a thank you to the universe for the support with the changes that are taking place. Then you can just blow out your candles and you're all done! Pretty easy, right?

The significance of full moon ritual work is sadly sometimes overlooked. Keep in mind the numerous amount of scientific studies done on the full moon effects on human behavior. This is a perfect time to work with powerful energy to bring positive changes into your life.

Happy full moon!

Lots of love and light,

Shannon
